SPIDER VEINS - LEGS ONLY - CONSULTATION
Service Description
**Microsclerotherapy** is a more specialized form of sclerotherapy, typically used to treat smaller veins, particularly **spider veins** (also known as telangiectasias). These are the tiny, superficial veins that appear as thin, web-like patterns on the skin, usually on the legs or face. In microsclerotherapy, a very fine needle is used to inject a sclerosant solution directly into these small veins. The solution irritates the inner lining of the vein, causing it to close off and eventually be absorbed by the body. The difference between regular sclerotherapy and microsclerotherapy lies primarily in the size of the veins being treated and the smaller, more precise injections used in microsclerotherapy. ### Key features of microsclerotherapy: - **Targeted treatment for small veins**: Primarily used for spider veins, not larger varicose veins. - **Fine needle**: A thinner, more precise needle is used to minimize discomfort and reduce the appearance of scarring. - **Minimal downtime**: Like standard sclerotherapy, it’s a minimally invasive procedure with little recovery time. Some patients may experience mild bruising or redness at the injection sites, but these typically resolve within a few weeks. - **Multiple sessions**: To achieve optimal results, patients often require multiple treatment sessions, spaced a few weeks apart. Microsclerotherapy is generally well tolerated, and while side effects are rare, they can include temporary skin discoloration or tiny, red spots at the injection site. Results are often seen immediately but upto 3 to 6 weeks, and in many cases, veins can fade significantly or disappear completely after a few treatments.
